Irondequoit Planning Board: Still some questions about "I-Square"

The Irondequoit Town Planning Board says it wants more questions answered before signing off on a new development on Titus Avenue.

Irondequoit native Mike Nolan has been trying to get approval for the "I-Square" project. It involves tearing down several buildings near Titus and Cooper Road and replacing them with new restaurants, shops and outdoor space.

The Planning Board says there are still issues that need to be resolved with parking and landscaping before the project gets preliminary approval.

The board did not vote at tonight's meeting, instead reserving a decision until a special meeting on February 13th.

Irondequoit looks to get an overhaul

Irondequoit looks to get an overhaul

News 10NBC got a sneak peek Saturday afternoon at the "I-Square" project.

Mike Nolan, an Irondequoit native, says the town had the project in the works for years; but had trouble finding a developer so he stepped up to the plate.

He plans to tear down several buildings along Titus Avenue and Cooper Road, and create a bustling "Town Square." Nolan told us this project will attract more people to Irondequoit and bring the community together.

"In order to get a really nice meal a lot of the time you have to leave the town,” explained Nolan. “We want to give things here a reason to stay in town. Places to go, outdoor concerts, movies, ice cream shops, coffee shops just tons of stuff."

According to the Democrat and Chronicle, construction could begin as early as next summer.
