East Irondequoit school budget passes; two board candidates are tied for final position.

In an unusual development, East Irondequoit voters, who passed their budget by a vote of 884 to 389, returned incumbents Doug Spallina and Kim Kane to new three-terms with votes of 804 and 800, respectively, but locked the remaining two candidates, incumbent Rick Checchi and newcomer Doreeen Swan in a tie, with 691 votes each, for the remaining open seat on teh board.

District officials said they were not sure of the "next step," but there could be a runoff. More details are expected tomorrow.

Spending is down in the 2012-13 East Irondequoit School District budget, but the $68,487,564 spending plan will still translate to a 2.05 percent tax levy increase.
