Scholar Athlete of the Week 4/24: Irondequoit's Caitlin White | News
Irondequoit High School senior Caitlin White has taken four APs and admits they can be tough, but well worth it.
White said, “My parents pushed me to take them, it hasn't been the easiest but I've gotten through them.”
She carries a 94 average and excels in math.
White said, “I like that if I don't know a problem, there's a way to figure it out.”
Sports are also Caitlin’s passion. She played varsity soccer and was on varsity tennis.
White said, “I've played soccer for as long as I can remember. I started lacrosse in the 7th grade as something to do.”
Something fun to do turned into a year round sport. By her freshman year, Caitlin was on varsity.
White said, “When I started playing lacrosse, I really liked it. My friends all played and that was a huge factor of it.”
Caitlin is now captain and plays year round, traveling in tournaments. She made second team all county and was recruited by Division II Bentley University to play lacrosse.
White said, “I loved it. I fell in love with it. It’s like 5,000 kids, but it seems so much bigger. I loved the girls on the team, the coach, the class size and everything.”
She says sports and school have prepared her for this next step.
White said, “I’m excited, not nervous. I’ve taken APs so I know to some extent what the challenges will be.”
