Irondequoit native and his wife will be on HGTV March 26 | News
If you’re a fan of cable television’s HGTV and, in particular, its House Hunters International show, you might want to tune in at 10:30 p.m. next Tuesday, March 26, when the show will feature a local couple.
For the episode set in Leuven, Belgium, Irondequoit native Chris Maloney and his wife, Canandaigua native Kelly Hanlon Maloney, will be getting some help to find an apartment there.
Chris, a 2006 graduate of Irondequoit High School, is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in microengineering at Rochester Institute of Technology, and will be in Belgium for about 18 months, doing an internship and research for a company there. He and his wife, a former cross-country running coach in Canandaigua schools, were married in September 2011.
Chris Maloney is the son of John and Diane Maloney of Irondequoit; Kelly Maloney is the daughter of Patricia and David Hanlon of Canandaigua.
Chris and Kelly Maloney did find an apartment and have already settled in Belgium, Diane Maloney said, explaining that Kelly emailed HGTV about their move, was sent a questionnaire that she filled out, and the two were accepted for the show.
Some filming, for the couple’s “back story,” was done in Rochester and Canandaigua, Diane Maloney said. The couple lived in the Park Avenue area of Rochester before their move.
