Man charged in connection with deadly crash appears in court

An Irondequoit chiropractor, charged in a deadly DWI hit and run crash in Parma, has a record of driving drunk and has a pending boating while intoxicated charge that prosecutors say happened just months before the crash that killed a Greece couple.

Dr. Stephen Divito pleaded not guilty to new charges Tuesday morning. He's now facing eight charges including aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter and DWI.

He's accused of killing Jim and Pat DePinto in November on the Ontario State Parkway and then speeding away from the scene and crashing a mile and a half away.

Ed Fiandach, Divito’s attorney, says his client is distraught over this.

In court paperwork, News10NBC learned that Divito told police he was at an event called "Grass Drags" in Hamlin before the crash. That's where people race snowmobiles in a grass field.

Man accused of killing East High student pleaded not guilty

The man accused of killing a Rochester teen last month was back in court Friday morning.

Devante Lively is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Larie Butler.

She had been missing for a week before police found her body at the bottom of a swimming pool behind a home in Irondequoit.

Lively was arraigned on the murder charge in State Supreme Court today. He pleaded not guilty.

The next step is for the court to provide the defense with all the materials related to the search for Butler's body and the arrest of Lively. After that, the judge will decide what evidence will be admissible at trial.

Irondequoit Police looking for bank robbery suspect

Security cameras got a look at a bank robbery suspect in Irondequoit Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the suspect passed a note to a teller at the Citizens Bank on Hudson Avenue demanding money. He got away with the cash and walked out.

The man is described as 6’, medium build with a mustache and Yankees hat.

If you have any information, Irondequoit Police ask you to call 911.

Irondequoit chiropractor indicted in crash that killed a Greece couple

An Irondequoit chiropractor has been indicted by a Monroe County Grand Jury for his role in a crash that killed a Greece couple in November.

Steven Divito has been indicted on eight counts. Those counts include aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter, assault, vehicular assault, leaving of the scene of an accident, DWI and reckless driving.

Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies say Divito was drunk when he caused a car crash on the Lake Ontario State Parkway near Route 259 that killed Patricia and James DePinto, of Greece. Sheriff’s deputies say he drove away from the crash and then slammed into a tree nearby on Huffer Road.

Divito’s passenger, Victor Burke also suffered serious injuries from the crash.

Former Irondequoit cop could be released from prison this summer

Chad Rahn, the son of former Greece Police Chief Merritt Rahn, was granted parole. The earliest the former Irondequoit Police officer could be released from prison is August 21.

In 2011, Rahn was found guilty off breaking into a 911 database and finding out who tipped off police to a man growing marijuana in his house.

Rahn’s poker buddy -- Frank Arena -- was arrested for growing marijuana in his house. Police busted him after they got a tip from Christopher Spahn. Rahn went into the 911 system and found Spahn's name and address and gave it to Arena. Police say Arena found Spahn and beat him up. Arena is serving six years in prison for the crime.

Rahn was originally sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison.

Henrietta man charged with trying to rob bank in Irondequoit

A 40-year-old Henrietta man has been arrested for trying to rob the Bank of America on East Ridge Road in Irondequoit on Wednesday.

Police say Jerold Walden entered the bank wearing a RG&E hard hat, passed a note to the teller demanding money but left before he received any money.

Several hours later, Greece Police responded to the report of a suspicious man at the Chase Bank on Dewey Avenue and Stone Road. Investigators say this man was dressed the same as the man who entered the Bank of America in Irondequoit. Police say the suspect did not attempt anything at Chase Bank.

Greece Police supplied Irondequoit investigators with the information and Walden was arrested Thursday for third-degree attempted robbery.

Walden was arraigned and remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail. He is due in Irondequoit Town Court on April 17 at 3 p.m.

Police: Man wearing RG&E hat tries to rob a bank in Irondequoit

Irondequoit Police are looking for the man who tried to rob a bank Wednesday morning.

Police say a man walked into the Bank of America on East Ridge Road and handed the teller a note stating that this was a “robbery” and demanded money.

Police say before the man received any money, he took off on foot. The suspect is described is a 5’10, medium build. Police say he was wearing a tan/brown jacket, black hoodie, jeans, boots and a yellow RG&E hard hat.
